Modern folk music shows a variety of faces. Very modern styles are used by Netlenka, a Russian singer who has been working on the idea of creating a musical project since May 1997. Since then she has had success in different areas: in song festivals, together with jazz musicians and with a folk group of her own. Her new project “Ethnica” was planned to be entirely acoustic, but later the group worked out a special sound based on electronics combined with a live instrument sound and Netlenka’s special Russian singing style.
